How to Try the New Voicenotes Mac App (Public Beta)

In this article, you'll learn how to download and install the new Voicenotes Mac app (public beta), what's new, what's still web-only, and what's coming next.

The rebuilt Voicenotes Mac app is now open for public testing. This version brings much more of the Voicenotes experience into the native Mac app - you can record, view notes, read transcripts and summaries, search, use meetings and dictation, and ask AI questions, all without going back to Voicenotes.com.

Before you install

Before you download, here are a few things to know so the installation goes smoothly.

  • The current build supports macOS 26+.

  • We are testing macOS 15+ support and will update this article as older versions are validated.

  • The app uses your existing Voicenotes account - no new account needed.

  • During installation, macOS may ask whether you want to replace the existing Voicenotes app or keep both. If you keep both, the new app may appear as "Voicenotes 2."

How to install

Once you're ready, installing the app takes less than a minute. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the downloaded file and follow the installation prompts.

  2. Open Voicenotes.

  3. Sign in with your existing Voicenotes account.

What's new

This build goes well beyond recording. Here's everything you can now do directly from the Mac app:

  • Record memos, meetings, and dictation.

  • View and edit your notes inside the Mac app.

  • Ask AI questions - even during a live meeting.

  • Search across all your notes.

  • New Dictation page with history and stats.

  • Manage core settings, shortcuts, billing, and team details.

  • Basic sharing and copy-link actions.

First things to try

Not sure where to start? Here's a quick flow to help you get a feel for the new app:

  1. Join a meeting and start recording

  2. Ask AI a question during the meeting.

  3. When the meeting is done, check the summary.

  4. Try Dictation by holding the fn key, then visit the Dictation page.

  5. Send feedback from Settings > Feedback.
