What is the Voicenotes Obsidian plugin?
The Voicenotes Obsidian plugin lets you automatically sync your notes from Voicenotes into your Obsidian vault. This includes:
Your note content
AI-generated summaries and action items
Optional audio files
Tasks converted into markdown TODOs
Many users have relied on a community-built Obsidian plugin for Voicenotes for a long time. That plugin was originally created by Andrew Lombardi and has been used by thousands of users.
To better support the community and address long-standing issues (like logout problems), we’ve now folded that plugin into the official Voicenotes Community organization. Our core engineering team is working closely with Andrew to maintain, improve, and support it going forward.
How to connect Voicenotes to Obsidian
Step 1: Get your Voicenotes access token
Open voicenotes.com in a web browser
Go to Settings
Select Integrations & Automations
Click Obsidian
Copy the generated access token
You can also go directly to:
https://voicenotes.com/app#settings
Step 2: Install the plugin in Obsidian
Open Obsidian
Go to Settings → Community plugins
Turn off Restricted mode (if enabled)
Click Browse
Search for Voicenotes
Install the plugin
Enable it
Step 3: Connect your account
Open the Voicenotes plugin settings in Obsidian
Paste your access token into the Auth Token field
Click Connect
That’s it - your notes will start syncing automatically based on your configured frequency.
What gets synced?
The plugin supports:
Automatic syncing at configurable intervals
AI-generated summaries and action items
Tasks converted to markdown TODOs (with optional tags)
Custom sync directories
Optional audio file downloads (off by default)
Date prepended to filenames
Optional deletion of synced notes from the Voicenotes server
(this is a destructive action and requires explicit double opt-in)
